The opposition alliance’s presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that they make pledges after finding ways to successfully carry it out.
Solih said this while speaking to the people of G. Kulhi during the opposition’s ongoing campaign trip to K. Atoll.
Solih said that his pledges are not simply dreams but rather ones than will reach fruition as the ways to finance these pledges and ways to carry it out is included in his manifesto.
However the pledges made by President Abdulla Yameen during his campaign trips to the islands are simply fantasy as can be seen by the sewerage project of Gulhi which has been handed over to a party but will never be actively completed, he said.
Noting that the President is travelling to islands and showing them an illusion, Solih said in an opposition government each and every island will be developed without discrimination.
Solih also criticized the way the government spends the green tax, stating that the green tax was specifically meant to finance certain allocated areas, although the current administration is spending it in ways that contrast its purpose.
In an opposition government, Solih said, some of the green tax money will be put in a ‘green fund’ while some will be given to councils to manage waste disposal.
He further said that because the youth loves sports, they would provide and develop ‘water sports’ in the country.
Solih also emphasized that while Gulhi has a population of 900, fisherman are facing a lot of difficulties and that there are many that are facing the issue of lack of housing, which he would work to solve.
