Opposition alliance’s running mate Faisal Naseem says an opposition government will prioritize people with disabilities.
Speaking at an interview with the press after visiting houses of Central – Maafannu constituency on Friday, Faisal said that he has met with a large number of people and children with disabilities during the door-to-door campaign visits. The families of these individuals have complained that they are not being given adequate medical care and apt opportunities for their growth and development, he said.
Faisal said some of these families have more than two or three children with disabilities and the parents are unable to go to work, their hands tied due to circumstance. Without adequate special aid, they are suffering and lives in hardship, he said.
He said in an opposition government they will endeavor to provide financial aid and special therapies needed for these children and people with disabilities in Male’ and in the atolls.
Faisal said the door-to-door visits have emphatically shown the lack of housing and shelter issues prevalent in the country. Many complained that they were not given the shelter as mandated in the policies, he said.
Faisal emphasized that an opposition government would solve the housing and shelter issues faced by the people.
