Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has requested housing ministry to provide Artificial Beach to carry out opposition alliance’s presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s campaign events.
The letter, signed by MDP's secretary general Anas Abdul Sattar and addressed to housing minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz, requesting the use of Artificial Beach was sent on Wednesday.
In the letter MDP stated that the opposition presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s candidacy, to contest in the September 23 presidential elections, was approved by the Elections Commission (EC) on July 28.
Since EC had assured equal, free and fair opportunities for all presidential candidates, MDP requests the ministry to provide Artificial Beach for the opposition presidential candidate’s campaign activities, the letter read.
The party requested the ministry to provide Artificial Beach on September 13, 14, 15, 20 and 21, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
MDP’s main headquarters is also located in front of Artificial Beach.
