Four expatriates have been injured in a fire at housing ministry’s labor quarters on Saturday.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the four injured expatriates were sleeping when the fire broke out. They were taken to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with the help of Maldives Red Crescent, MNDF said.
MNDF previously stated that the fire broke out at the police tow yard next to the labor quarters. However they were later able to pinpoint the location to the ministry’s labor quarters.
According to MNDF, they received report of the fire around 3:08 a.m. and their firemen were able to put the fire out by 3:38 a.m.
The building was badly damaged in the fire, MNDF said.
