Former Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed has been brought to Male’ for doctor consultation on Tuesday.
Maldives Correctional Service (MCS)’s information officer said the former CJ was brought to Male’ early on Tuesday morning and consulted doctors at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). However, the officer did not clarify the reason for the consultation.
VNews understands Saeed consulted an internal medicine doctor.
Security forces stormed the Supreme Court on February 5 and arrested Saeed under the state of emergency. He was arrested for signing a Supreme Court order to release nine political prisoners on February 1.
Saeed, convicted of three charges, was removed from office and is currently serving a three-year and one month prison sentence.
He was also charged with terrorism on allegations of attempting to overthrow the government by accepting bribes.
While the trial is still ongoing at Criminal Court, he would face a 10-year prison sentence if found guilty.
