Jumhooree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim is set to arrive in the country on Thursday.
Qasim was previously scheduled to arrive this Wednesday, however in a tweet on Wednesday, Qasim stated that he had rescheduled to return to Maldives at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Qasim decided to return to the country after High Court released him on bail on September 30.
Qasim was sentenced to three years, two months and twelve days in prison on bribery charge in absentia close to midnight on August 24, 2017. He was admitted at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) after collapsing inside the courtroom earlier that day.
Qasim will be accompanied by JP President Ali Waheed, former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, and JP member Dr. Shah Mahir, along with Qasim’s two sons.
