Foreign minister Abdulla Shahid revealed that Maldives is set to enter a new ‘visa agreement’ with India, which will provide ease for the citizens of both countries.
The announcement was made via a tweet by Maldives foreign minister Abdulla Shahid on Tuesday night.
Minister Shahid stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will sign the visa agreement during his upcoming official visit to India. This agreement will bring an end to the difficulties faced by Maldivian students studying abroad and others who travel to India for medical treatment, he said.
During his visit to India, minister Shahid met with India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, where discussions regarding the re-issuing of Indian visa’s to Maldivians took place.
After the visit, minister Shahid travelled to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday night.
