President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called upon all to instill authentic Islamic knowledge in the hearts of young children.
President Solih said this during his address to the nation on the occasion of the Day Maldives Embraced Islam, marked this Sunday.
President Solih said in order to protect our youth from making wrong choices in life and to guide them in the right direction, it is vital to instill the correct Islamic knowledge which is based on peace, kindness, forgiveness and unity.
Thus he called upon all Islamic scholars, teachers and educational institutes to carry out this noble duty.
In his address, the President also noted that the foundation of the unity among the Maldivian people was due to our firm Islamic faith and stated that the main shield against all foreign influences was our strong adherence to the Islamic religion.
President Solih also said that the Maldivian community has deeply experienced the anguish of losing their family members who were led astray due to misinformation regarding Islam. As we keep vigilance over anti-religious sentiments spreading in the country, we should also be vigilant regarding the spread of religious extremism, President said.
