Maldives Police Service (MPS) has advised the public not to use derogatory speech and threats on social media, which has seen a recent influx on the famous platforms.
In a tweet on Monday, Police said they have observed ‘a string of hate speech and threats’ ensuing from recent conversations on some social media platforms.
Police said they are investigating these and advised all to refrain from making 'derogatory remarks and specially threats' to another person.
While police have cautioned against such behavior on social media, verbal battles and lashing out on social media platforms have been alarmingly frequent in recent times.
Additionally, the recent entry of edited photos that will undoubtedly harm and defame a person’s character has also been on the increase, along with hateful language when communicating with others.
