Transport Authority has announced that it is now compulsory for both drivers and passengers on all two wheeled vehicles to wear helmets while crossing the Sinamale' bridge.
Transport Minister Aishath Nahula stated that a grace period until March will be granted to all the citizens and that any passengers caught violating the rule will be stopped from crossing the bridge by the authorities.
Minister Aisha went on to add that the ministry is having to enforce such strict measures for the safety of all the citizens.
Since its opening, the Sinamale' bridge has witnessed some serious accidents with several drivers and passengers suffering critical injuries.
