Minister at President’s Office Ahmed Sameer has resigned from his post as Jumhooree Party (JP)’s secretary general.
Speaking to VNews on Wednesday, JP’s chief spokesperson and State Minister of Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology Ali Solih said JP’s secretary general Ahmed Sameer resigned from the post last Friday. JP has since assigned former State Minister for Health Hussain Rasheed to the post and informed Elections Commission (EC) of the development, Ali Solih said.
Ali Solih stated that Sameer resigned from the post as he is unable to spend adequate time working as JP’s secretary general while simultaneously proceeding with his duties as the State Minister.
He also said that Sameer had joined the party in mid-2014, during a taxing time for the party. However Sameer had done exceptional work for the betterment of the party, which the leadership and members are eternally grateful for, Ali Solih said.
“I would like to extend thanks to Sameer, on behalf of JP’s leadership and members, for the extensive work he had done for the party and wish him success in future endeavors”, JP’s chief spokesperson said.
Sameer had previously served as the Dhidhdhoo MP and as a member of HA. Atoll at the people’s special committee.
