Schools in F. Feeali have been shut down due to another two students coming down with dengue fever.
The Community Officer at Feeali Health Centre stated that a total of 13 students have already been tested positive for dengue and have been transported to Male' for further care. Along with the two that were tested positive today, the total number of cases come to 15, although, no critical cases have yet been reported.
The officer also confirmed that first patient for the current outbreak in the island of 1200 was an expat worker who travelled to the island from Male'. The health centre is working alongside local civilians to destroy any places that may be breeding sites for dengue mosquitoes.
Feeali council stated that schools will be closed from Sunday till Thursday for safety reasons. Among the children reported positive for the fever, most are school going children.
Among the 15 total tested positive, one is being treated in the ICU at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and is in the process of being taken to India for further treatment.
