Maldives Police Service (MPS) has once again requested the public to seek their assistance in transferring large amounts of cash from companies to banks.
Chief Inspector of Police Izmia Zahir said they have been receiving complaints of robbery on the road during cash transfer en route to banks. Thus, the police have decided, especially where large amounts of cash are involved, assisting in cash-in-transit operations from one place to another, he said.
He further urged the public to seek their ‘Installation Security’ service to transfer large amounts of cash. This service provides assistance to citizens for cash-in-transit operations. The service will be available in Male’ by dialing 9980068, he said.
Noting that such incidents have also been happening in the atolls, Izmia said the service can be sought by contacting police stations in the islands.
While such incidents have been on the rise recently, police have been working to decrease these incidences.
