Two additional arrests have been made in relation to the death of Bangladeshi expatriate Luthfar, whose body parts were recovered underwater.
Luthfar was working on a boat named 'Kurimagu' that mostly travelled between Lhaimagu and Male'. Police had previously arrested two suspects in relation to the case; a 30-year-old and a 36-year old, both from Bangladesh.
According to police, the recent two suspects arrested in the case are also expatriates. However, since the investigation is ongoing, police refrained from disclosing further information.
Luthfar was reported missing on April 22, 2019 from the vicinity of Sh. Lhaimagu.
According to the information obtained during their investigation of the case, a rough location where he was believed to have gone missing was obtained. Upon diving around in the site, body parts belonging to a human long deceased were retrieved.
He was known to be missing when he could not be located for a trip from Lhaimagu to Male', after which searches were carried out in different locations attempting to locate him in vain.
