Police said they have identified the perpetrators who assaulted a woman with special needs in Sh. Feydhoo.
Speaking to VNews, police media officer said they have been able to identify the perpetrators that assaulted the woman in question, who was found tied to a pole with a sack over her head.
When questioned regarding any arrests in relation to the case, the police media officer said no arrests have been made thus far.
The officer also stated that the investigations in the case have almost reached an end, and that once the investigations are completed the case will be forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Meanwhile, information regarding two suspects in the case has been widely spread on social media. The photos circulated on social media shows the woman tied to the pole at night time, with a sack over her head.
According to Feydhoo Council, the 50-year-old woman was rescued by passersby on May 13, after witnessing the distressing incident. Due to her condition, she is known to roam the roads at night, at times troubling others, Feydhoo Council said.
Feydhoo Council further stated that the woman is married and has five children, some of whom also have special needs. Due to her condition, she is not taken care of by her family and lives with her husband and children in a separate house, the council said.
While the island council said they had previously reported the woman’s condition to related authorities, gender minister Shidhatha Shareef has recently said that the woman will be given justice.
