Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has launched an investigation into Chief Magistrate at the Kaafu Atoll Judiciary, Raagib Ahmed, following allegations of sexual misconduct against him.
Speaking at Wednesday night's press briefing, JSC's director Hassan Zaheen said that it has already appointed a five-member committee to look into the case.
The committee comprises of JSC's Vice President Masthooru Husnee, as well as High Court Justice Abdul Rauf Ibrahim, Juvenile Court Judge Mohamed Easa Fulhu, Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath, as well as Hisaan Hussain - a JSC member representing the Parliament.
Thulusdoo MP Ibrahim Naseer initially exposed the allegations during parliamentary sittings held on Tuesday and Wednesday, although he did not refer to Magistrate Raagib by name. However, he stressed that the cases should be investigated as soon as possible, and that actions must be promptly taken against them.
