Capital Market Development Authority (CMDA) has begun a training program for company directors, including government and private corporations.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Director General and Head of CMDA Aminath Mohamed Didi said that this program aimed to familiarize the directors to corporate governance policies, and the boards responsibility in employing the policies into company works.
The program is being attended by 34 participants, which includes director level employees from a large number of local corporations.
Aminath noted that the employees working in these positions are usually trained in various fields, and the objective of this program is to deliver training necessary as a company director. The program will be divided into seven sessions which cover a wide range of topics including the Company Act, the tax system, anti-corruption, as well as auditing.
Aminath said that the sessions will give an overlook into the experience of being a board director, as the trainings will be conducted by professionals in the country.
The training will be conducted from today onwards till the 11th of this month.
