Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir was ejected from the parliament sitting on Wednesday, after clashing with
Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed.
The clash began when MP Jabir made a point of objection right at the start of yesterday's sitting and asked the Speaker a question. Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed informed Jabir that the question does not fit as a point of objection on parliament proceedings and asked Jabir to take his seat.
However Jabir refused to take his seat and continued to speak over Nasheed, prompting Nasheed to warn Jabir that he would be ejected if he does not follow the order. Jabir did not pay heed to the warnings and continued with his rant, causing Speaker Nasheed to request the sergeant-at-arms to escort Jabir out of the parliament.
When the sergeant-at-arms came to escort him out, Jabir began yelling and screaming at him before walking out by himself.
This is the first instance of an MP getting ejected from a parliament sitting, in the 19th session of the parliament.
