A Maldivian doctor has been hailed a hero for saving a man who was suffering from seizures on board a Sri Lankan flight.
The incident took place on flight UL189 travelling from Colombo to Dhaka, Bangladesh on Friday morning.
The ailing man was helped by 27-year-old Maldivian doctor Hishaam Ali Zaki.
Sri Lankan airlines said the man suffered a seizure two hours into the three-hour flight and crew immediately called for medical assistance on the intercom. Dr. Hishaam was the first to volunteer, they said. The airlines expressed gratitude to Dr. Hishaam for his steadfastness and awarded him with a letter of thanks.
Meanwhile many have been hailing Hishaam, Shabnamyge, R. Kandholhudhoo, as a hero for saving a life amid nerve wrecking circumstances.
While Hishaam was educated at Bangladesh's University of Science and technology Chittagong, he was travelling on an internship trip when the incident occurred. He will complete his internship at the University's Bangabandhu Memorial Hospital.
