The government has earned MVR 382.2 million as Airport Development Fee (ADF) up to the month of June this year.
According to the statistics publicized by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), the government earned USD 24 million as Airport Development Fee, which is equivalent to MVR 382.2 million.
This is a 4.3 percent increase relative to the same period from last year.
The government earned MVR 49.7 million in June 2019 alone, which is a 3 percent increase compared to June 2018.
The government began collecting the Airport Development Fee in May 2017, to increase government revenue and as an assist to pay back the loans taken to develop Velana International Airport.
The ADF for Maldivians is USD 12, and USD 25 for foreigners.
Persons with diplomatic benefits are exempt from paying this fee.
