Vice Chairman of Victory Sports Club, Mauroof Ahmed, has been appointed as the managing director of the Maldives Sports Corporation.
The appointment of Mauroof was confirmed by the privatization board.
Mauroof is a renowned former football player and coach, having led Victory in its golden days as both player and coach.
While Mauroof is set to serve the sports corporation as its managing director, former Vice President of Maldives Volleyball Association (VAM) Hussain Mohamed will be leading the corporation as its Chairman.
Maldives Sports Corporation was established under the Sports Act, to develop the Maldivian sports sector. The government holds 100 percent share of the sports corporation, which is established as a separate legal entity conforming to the regulations under the Company Act.
