Seven children who fled from Fiyavathi orphanage in Hulhumale' have been found and handed back to the orphanage.
According to the police, they received a report on Saturday morning regarding seven children who had fled the orphanage. The police found the children sitting on top of a fence near Tree Top Hospital.
The police said that no injuries were found on the children and that they have now been handed back to Fiyavathi.
Yesterday's incident came at a time the state has come under scrutiny for allowing children under state care to run away. Gender Ministry was heavily criticized for allowing a 14-year-old boy under state care to go missing. He was found nearly two weeks later.
Gender minister Shidhatha Shareef was summoned to the parliament to respond to the matter.
