Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has published the names of businesses and individuals from the greater Malé region, who have not submitted GST statements or defaulted paying tax returns for the first quarter of 2019.
The list includes 23 businesses that carry out tourism related businesses and 134 other businesses.
According to MIRA, the names of the noncompliant businesses have been published in accordance with their policy. MIRA said if any business or individual pays the due amounts or submits GST statement, their name would be removed from the list.
During last July, the second biggest source of income for MIRA was through GST.
While MIRA received MVR 510.7 million as GST, this is 23.7 percent of their total income. MIRA received MVR 2.16 billion as income last July.
