Education ministry says plans are in place to bring consultants from Cambridge to review the issues in the academic curriculum.
According to the ministry, the team of consultants from Cambridge will be arriving in the country during next week and will begin work on August 18.
The ministry also informed that the consultants will carry out special training programs for the members of the National Institution of Education (NIE). The training workshop will carry on for two days, after which the consultants will communicate with the members of NIE to review the curriculum.
The ministry also stated that they will be visiting schools to observe the teaching methodologies and to analyze the books and materials used in teaching.
The team will isolate any issues found in the curriculum, and submit a report on how those issues can be solved. The ministry stated that they will be amending the curriculum of grades 1 through three and the curriculum of LKG and UKG as per the report and implement it from 2021.
The conference on curriculum, as per the pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, was held during February this year. The education ministry said the conference revealed the need to amend the current curriculum.
