Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has released new printed notes of MVR 10 and MVR 100 into circulation.
MMA said due to depleting stocks the newly printed currency note stock arrived in the Maldives on July 5 last year and was kept in the Government Trust.
Changes were brought to the signature and date printed on these notes. The current prints bear the signature of Ahmed Naseer, who was appointed as the Governor last year. Furthermore, the notes have 10th March 2018 as the Gregorian date and 22nd Jumada Al-khirah 1439 as the Hijri date.
MMA informs that the previous printed versions of MVR 10 and MVR 100 notes will also continue to be in circulation with the newly printed ones.
The "Ran Dhiha Faheh" notes series was released on the occasion of the 50th Independence Day of Maldives. The new series bears more advanced security features and was printed on polymer paper.
The Ran Dhiha Faheh note series currently include notes for MVR 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1000.
