President of People's National Congress Abdul Raheem Abdulla says he will always back former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
The President of PNC, which had formed a coalition with Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) headed by Yameen, said this after some members left the coalition and joined Jumhooree Party (JP) on Monday night.
Commenting on this, he sent out a tweet saying that he began his political career with Yameen. He said he is still with Yameen and will continue to support Yameen. He also said that there will not come a day when he stops backing Yameen.
Meanwhile colleagues of Abdul Raheem have indicated that he too will soon join Jumhooree Party. They stated once Abdul Raheem returns from Malaysia he will leave the PNC coalition.
With the defeat at the last Parliamentary election, where Abdul Raheem had contested for the Fonadhoo Constituency for the third term, he has been rarely seen on the political scene.
Meanwhile, the political activities of PNC and PPM had decreased significantly with Yameen's defeat at the last presidential election.
