New Radiant SC terminates contracts with Brazilian striker Rafael Rafinha, midfielder Everton Santos Souza and Spanish goalkeeper Pedro Marenco.
Speaking with vnews, an official from New Radiant said the decision was made, when the three players were unable to perform at the People’s Cup, which saw New Radiant’s worst defeat in recent years.
Addressing the issue, Brazilian midfielder Santos told vnews that he was disappointed because the club decided to terminate his contract so suddenly. He said that he arrived in Maldives and joined the club with hopes to bring success to the club and that he will never forget how he has been treated by New Radiant.
“I accepted New Radiant’s invitation with all my heart. However, things ended in a way that I did not anticipate. Honestly, I am very disappointed. We are foreigners. Nevertheless, already another Maldivian club is in talks with me. I have not yet made a decision. But I don’t earn an income by sitting behind a desk. I earn an income by playing football. I play football because I really want to”, Santos, who also played for Maldivian team All Youth Linkage as well told vnews.
New Radiant is making numerous changes after their disappointing performance at the People’s Cup. Last night, Captain Mohamed Umair’s contract was also terminated by the club. And less than 24 hours after his termination from New Radiant, Umair has signed with Maziya.
