Club Eagles has defeated TC Sports 1-0 on Tuesday evening to lift the President’s Cup trophy.
At the beginning of their confrontation at the National Stadium both teams displayed a laid back performance. When the allocated ninety minutes passed with no goals, it was announced that the game will proceed into extra time.
That was when everything changed. In the first minute of the first half of extra time, Club Eagles took the lead with a goal by Ahmed Rizwan (Rizey).
TC tried to tie the score, however, this became near impossible when TC’s Yameen Ibrahim was sent off with a red card, during the second half of extra time.
This is the club’s first President’s Cup win. The closest it reached before was when they were defeated in the 2014 finals by New Radiant.
Six teams contested in the President’s Cup, which kicked off on November 15, 2016.
They were; last year’s runner-up New Radiant, Champion of the Minvan 50 Championship Seenu Feydhoo, last year’s Champions Maaziya SRC, TC Sports Club, Club Eagles and first division newbie United Victory.
