Bank of Maldives (BML) on Sunday commenced an online system to issue dollars for Maldivians travelling abroad from Velana International Airport.
BML said dollars can be purchased through its online portal. The purchased dollars can be collected from the BML branch at Velana International Airport (VIA), after check-in.
Inaugurating the launch of the online system, the first 10 customers using this online system were gifted with a bonus of USD 100 by BML today.
Dollars are issued at counters in front of departure gate 4, for passengers purchasing dollars online.
For those who are unable to do online booking, BML said dollar payment can be made at any BML branch and the dollars can be collected at the airport. And that special assistance would be given for the elderly and special needs passengers.
BML has appealed passengers seeking to purchase dollars at the airport to be cautious of their guidelines. Such as, doing online booking latest by 8 hours prior to departure time, since passengers are given a time limit of 5 days to 120 hours before departure time to do the booking. Moreover, they have advised passengers to re-check their booking information in order to avoid any problems that could arise. Likewise, if passengers want to change any information or have any queries, BML has instructed them to call their Bank Contact Centers.
Talking at the ceremony held at Velaanaa International Airport today, BML’s CEO and Managing Director Andrew Heely expressed satisfaction with the support shown by locals for the system. He further said that the aim of the staff at BML is to make sure that passengers have smooth and fast service.
“The system went live on the weekend and the first passengers that made the booking would depart today. Our staff working at Velaanaa International Airport will be ready to serve passengers at counters specified for the purpose, in front of Gate 4 in the Departure Terminal. On this opportunity, I would like to express thanks to MMA for ensuring that customers received dollars without any difficulty.” Heely said.
