A vessel out for long-line fishing has caught on fire.
MNDF informs VNews the boat that caught on fire, Marco Polo 2, was a fishing vessel. And that it was 323 nautical miles off G.Dhaal atoll's Thinadhoo when the incident happened.
Another fishing vessel near the area had approached the boat when it caught fire, but failed to see any people on the boat or surrounding waters.
It is not yet clear how many people were on the vessel, or if there were any present at all.
MNDF states that their coast guard FIC and Gaazee are currently active in the search operation along with an Maldivian aircraft.
