Former Maldivian football player Shah Ismail (Saya) has been released from Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
Ismail was rushed to the hospital a week ago after a minor heart attack.
A family member said he is better and that he now needs to take care of his physical fitness and eating habits.
Shah previously served as deputy youth minister and General Secretary of Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
He had played in Club Valencia’s first division and gained numerous accolades during his time in New Radiant.
He was a national team player who competed in the SAFF Championships in 1997 and 2003. He was the captain of the national team in 2003 and later became manager.
As the General Secretary of Football Association of Maldives (FAM), Ismail formed FAM’s guidelines and disciplinary codes among other regulations and reformed the association.
He was the commissioner of some international football matches, and made numerous contributions to the sport during his time at the sports ministry and sports council.
