Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that nine more people have tested positive for H1N1 as the flu epidemic continues.
As per statistics published by the Agency on Sunday, 375 people have been tested thus far this year, out of which the virus has been found in 123 people.
So far two people have died of the flu and eleven are receiving treatment.
As of Saturday, a total of 728 people with flu-like symptoms consulted doctors in Male’ region – 375 at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), 250 at ADK, 42 at Hulhumale’ Hospital, 39 at Villimale’ Hospital and 22 at Senahiya military hospital.
The number from the atolls has increased to 1179. HDh. Atoll, R. Atoll, were the highest contributors to this figure.
Since the outbreak was announced a week ago, authorities have been taking several measures to control it. Flu clinics have been opened, schools have been closed, and offices and institutions have granted paid-leave to pregnant employees.
HPA has also urged people to void public gatherings and travel unless absolutely necessary.
