National volleyball team’s head coach, Mohamed Sharaf said that the training camp at Thailand was a success and the team is fully prepared for the 3rd Asian Men’s Central Zone tournament.
Upon concluding the training camp at Thailand and returning home on Sunday, Sharaf said the team was in high spirits to win the tournament.
The main aim of the training camp was to strengthen the team’s attack and defense, among many other things, which was a success, Sharaf said.
Sharaf said the teams participating in the tournament are well known to each other, hence all teams would be able to anticipate and benefit from this knowledge. Maldives had the added benefit of being the host country of the tournament, he said.
Two former players, renowned attacker Shaain Mohamed (Shaahintey) and Ali Aamir (Dhigu Ayya), did not make the team, the former due to injury.
Four team including Maldives participated in the tournament this year. They are Turkmenistan, Nepal and Kyrgyzstan.
