Qasim Ibrahim, leader of Jumhoree Party (JP), says he has not colluded with anyone.
The JP leader said this on Sunday night during the ceremony to inaugurate the party’s local council election campaign.
Mr Ibrahim said this in response to accusations that he has been colluding with certain people, and had colluded with different political parties during different periods of time in the past.
He said that he will remain steadfast in his own political beliefs, which include standing up against any injustice done to citizens or politicians.
He explained that he had defended former president Mohamed Nasheed due to the unjustified terrorism charges laid against him.
He also said that he met with former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom upon request, and that during the meeting he had not agreed to collude with Mr Gayoom.
