An expatriate has confessed to the murder of a mechanic at the HA Ihavandhoo ice plant.
Police on Sunday released a statement which said that Bangladeshi national Shuman Mia confessed to killing 54-year-old Ismail Umar, whose body was found at the plant on Friday.
The knife used to attack Umar and the clothes Mia wore during the attack have now been confiscated, said the statement.
Four more expatriates were arrested during the investigation and remains in police custody.
Umar’s body was buried in the Ihavandhoo cemetery on Saturday.
