Maldives Meteorological Service on Wednesday said that the bad weather experienced throughout the country is due to the Southwest Monsoon becoming stronger.
Speaking to VNews an official from MET Office said the next two days will bring thunder, rain and strong winds. The worst of it will be between Sh. Atoll and M. Atoll, where a white alert has been issued, the official said.
The official also said all those travelling in the larger open seas should be extremely cautious of the weather conditions, as wind speeds are expected to reach 50 mph.
According to the official, wind speed is expected to reach 8 - 18 mph in southern atolls, directing towards West and North-West. The rest of the country will experience gushes at 17 - 27 mph while Northern and Central seas will be rough.
