Mohamed Sajid has been assigned as the head coach of the national men’s volleyball team.
The assistant coach positions were given to MNDF’s current head coach Mumthaz Ali, and police club’s head coach Khaalid Mohamed. Mohamed Haanim was assigned the fitness manager and Ismail Samah was assigned as the kit manager.
The team’s officials were given their agreements during a ceremony held on Monday.
Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM) said the newly elected officials’ agreement would expire in 2018.
Speaking at the ceremony, VAM’s president Mohamed Latheef said their main aim is to train with young players and carry out trainings permanently. He said no effort has been put to train new players, and that the national team can only become stronger if younger players are given a chance, he said.
Mohamed Sajid, speaking at the ceremony, said that as the head coach of the team, his main target would be to create a ‘team’, instead of focusing on the medal.
Mohamed Sajid has previously headed the national men’s team, while the last coach to head the team was Mohamed Sharaf.
