Criminal Court has cancelled the preliminary hearing of bribery case against Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon scheduled for Monday.
The MP’s legal team said the hearing was cancelled at the request of the state due to the attorney representing the state case being out of country.
Faris was to present evidence and arguments in his defence at the hearing.
If found guilty of the charge, he will face a prison sentence of up to three years, two months and twelve days, and he will subsequently lose his parliament seat.
The MP is also standing trial on the accusation of using divided ruling party PPM’s logo and flag without permission.
