The Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has lifted the suspension on three lawyers, who were suspended for launching judicial reform efforts.
The three lawyers whose suspension was lifted include former attorney of Elections Commission Mariyam Haneefa Khalid, former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ahmed Nazim’s lawyer Faarisha Abdulla, and Fathuhulla Ismail.
DJA said the suspension was lifted after reviewing their cases.
On September 10, DJA suspended 54 lawyers who launched judicial reform efforts and filed a petition with the Supreme Court expressing concern about the judiciary.
DJA had previously lifted suspension on 39 lawyers, while 12 lawyers still remain under suspension.
Although the suspension on the majority of the lawyers has been lifted, some well-known lawyers still remain. These include former Attorney General Husnu Suood, former Deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem, Mahfooz Saeed, and Kendhoo MP Ali Hussain.
