Maldives on Tuesday unveiled a commemorative stamp set to celebrate the golden jubilee of diplomatic relations with Japan.
The stamp set was unveiled by foreign minister Dr. Mohamed Asim.
The ceremony was attended by Japanese Ambassador Kazumi Endo and Maldives Post’s Managing Director Ahmed Shafeeq.
Photos from President Abdulla Yameen’s visit to Japan and photos of some developmental projects Japan carried out in the Maldives are on the stamp set, which contains eight stamps.
Maldives Post said each stamp in the commemorative set will be sold for MVR 15.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Asim said the historic relations between Maldives and Japan are based on mutual respect. He highlighted numerous assistance provided by the Japanese government and thanked the government on behalf of the Maldivian government.
