The submission of the estimated state budget for 2018 to parliament has been put on the agenda for Wednesday.
The submission of the state budget for 2018 was previously scheduled for last Thursday. However MPs were later informed that it had been postponed to the present week, and put on the agenda for Wednesday.
The budget is to be submitted during the parliament session at 11:00 a.m. Meanwhile an official of finance ministry had previously told media that the budget had been submitted to parliament on October 30.
VNews understands the budget debate was pushed back as the budget details were not submitted.
The law dictates that a budget outlining the expenditure and revenue for the coming year should be proposed to the parliament two months before the new year begins.
The parliament had approved a state budget of MVR 26.8 billion for this year.
However this amount was raised to MVR 27.3 billion with the MVR 493 million supplementary budget that was later issued by the government on October 24.
