Criminal Court has handed over case documents to Kinbidhoo MP and Jumhooree Party’s deputy leader, Abdulla Riyaz, who is facing trial on influencing official conduct charge.
The court summoned Riyaz at 9 a.m. on Wednesday to hand over the documents.
The state pressed influencing official conduct charge against Riyaz in November 28, last year.
After receiving the case documents, Riyaz said that he did not know when the court will start hearings.
The MP was accused based on a chat log of a conversation between him and a government employee, which was allegedly found on his phone.
Riyaz was previously charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer charge, but he was acquitted. He was also charged with trespassing, along with 11 other opposition MPs, for unauthorized entry into the parliament building.
