A European Union (EU) delegation is scheduled to arrive in Maldives on Saturday.
EU’s Office in Sri Lanka stated that the delegation will consist of External Action Service (EEAS) Deputy Managing Director for Asia Department, Paola Pampaloni, accompanied by the Head of the EU Delegation to the Maldives, Tung-Lai Margue, and the EEAS Head of Division for South Asia, Caroline Vinot.
A statement released by EU states that the delegation will meet the Speaker of Parliament Abdulla Maseeh, Attorney General Mohamed Anil, defense minister Adam Shareef, home minister Azleen Ahmed, foreign minister Dr. Mohamed Asim, fisheries minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee, and environment minister Thoriq Ibrahim.
The delegation will also meet the opposition, and civil society organizations.
During the visit discussions regarding the strengthening of EU-Maldives dialogue and cooperation, climate change, terrorism and prevention efforts, and the upcoming presidential elections will take place, the statement read.
