A Sri Lankan fishing vessel has been found capsized in Maldivian waters on Thursday.
The boat was found 73 miles off of Sh. Atoll by a fishing vessel, ‘Manfaa’, of R. Maduvvari.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the boat was found floating in the water and there was no one on board.
MNDF also said the boat was identified as a Sri Lankan vessel due to the information painted on the outside of the boat.
The capsized boat was reportedly towed to R. Maduvvari with the assistance of Manfaa boat.
67 vessels of India and Sri Lanka went missing after getting caught up in the cyclonic storm ‘Ockhi’ in the region last December, some of which were found in the Maldivian waters.
