Parliament has set another sitting for Monday and informed the MPs regarding it.
Speaking on Raajje TV, North Henveiru MP Abdulla Shaahid said he received a message from the Parliament Secretariat after 11:00 p.m. on Monday, informing of a sitting scheduled for Tuesday. However, the time was not mentioned in the message, he said.
“They have sent a message informing us that a sitting has been scheduled. The time and agenda of the sitting has not been mentioned. So we have to keep waiting from Fajr (morning) prayer till they inform us”, Abdulla Shaahid said.
Meanwhile The National Security Committee had on Monday’s sitting approved the letter send by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, requesting the parliament to extend the State of Emergency for 30 days.
Opposition members stated that the decree cannot be approved as the legally mandated 43 MPs required to take a vote were not present due to the opposition members boycotting the sitting, leaving only 39 MPs at the sitting.
