Jumhooree Party (JP) has condemned the actions of SO police officers at the party’s head office, M. Kunooz, on Friday night.
Two police officers entered the premise and attacked people with pepper spray and as a result, one person had to be taken to the hospital.
JP’s spokesperson Ali Solih told VNews that what the officers said indicated that they entered Kunooz in search of someone.
He said that the party strongly condemns their actions. He said that while the officers did whatever they wanted in the name of looking for a person, who they did not even find in the end, it can only be considered as harassment.
Solih further said that JP intends to lodge complaints with the National Integrity Commission against the two officers.
Noting that it was an unlawful act being carried out by the government by using a few police officers, Solih called on the government to put an end to it.
He also highlighted that hundreds of people were protesting on the streets of Male’ on Friday night as well, calling on the government to implement the Supreme Court order issued on February 1.
