Members of GA. Atoll Council returned to work on Wednesday after their three-month suspension.
They received a warm welcome upon their return to office.
Local Government Authority (LGA) suspended the entire council after they met with Indian Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra in December 2017, against the Authority’s ban on meeting with foreign diplomats and organizations.
Some members of the council said they did not lose anything because of the suspension, but people of the atoll suffered.
The councillors earned their income through fishing during the suspension.
Opposition parties are criticizing LGA for unwarranted sanctions against opposition-aligned councillors.
