Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s Parliamentary Group leader and Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih have been given a 9-day remand period by the Criminal Court.
The Criminal Court judge also ordered that MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih be transferred to a good quality cell.
Police arrested MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih while he was standing at the Republic Square on Friday night and took him to the detention centre in Dhoonidhoo.
Police arrested him on accusation of obstructing police duty.
Meanwhile MDP had issued a statement saying that MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was being mistreated while under police custody at Dhoonidhoo.
Furthermore Criminal Court also remanded MDP’s Parliamentary Group’s deputy leader Ali Azim for nine days.
