Police had on Wednesday, searched HA. Dhidhdhoo council office with a search warrant, and confiscated some documents in the office.
An official who spoke to VNews said police searched Dhidhdhoo council office with a search warrant given by Ihavandhoo Magistrate court.
Police acquired the search warrant when the council refused to hand over the original press statement released by Dhidhdhoo council, calling to implement the February 1 Supreme Court order, along with other related documents.
The reason for giving the warrant was to search for ‘fake’ documents.
Police is carrying out an investigation on Dhidhdhoo council members, on allegations of tampering with original documents, duplicating documents, and passing off a fake document in place of an original.
Police had confiscated the press release and all related documents from Dhidhdhoo council office.
The Local Government Authority (LGA) has suspended four members of the council in relation to the press release, excluding Moosa Latheef.
