Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has allocated special zones for those who wish to sell homemade short eats in Hulhumale’.
Many people have been selling short eats laid out on tables outside their apartment flats in Hulhumale’.
Since these items are not being sold in accordance with the regulations of the Health Protection Agency (HPA), HDC has allocated special zones and established a policy on selling these foods.
According to HDC, the policy dictates that short eats can be sold at the special zones by those who register with them after submitting a form for approval. The forms will be accepted till Thursday, HDC said.
HDC stated slots will be offered according to availability, prioritizing those already in the business.
The slots will be given for a 1-year period to those that register with HDC and require an annual fee of MVR 150. The approval has to be renewed yearly, HDC said.
Furthermore, those that apply for approval to sell short eats should have a land, flat or row house in Hulhumale’ and should be able to maintain service in accordance with the regulations set by HPA.
The applicant is also required to be a registered resident of Hulhumale', HDC said.
